Three matches that I missed.

Solomon Islands face New Caledonia today at 5pm local time, before matches with American Samoa on May 29 and host nation Fiji on May 31 at ANZ Stadium in Suva.

And I cannot get a flight to Suva in time for tomorrow's match.

It is already tomorrow there.

It was not Derby Day, Sad to Say (promotion to EPL, playoff for 2014-15 season)

How lucky were QPR? Very, very lucky indeed!
Derby had most of the play: QPR were down to 10 men from the first half but the Rams still could not get that goal. They were tired men. Frustration is tiring.

Harry Redknapp, QPR manager, seemed to gamble on getting to the penalty shoot-out as his best chance of a win by bringing on two forwards as substitutes in good time. One of them was Bobby Zamora who scored in good time. The 89th minute.

David and Peter: our regrets that Derby failed to get promoted. On the plus side: you can remain more objective about your choices for your squad next season.

QPR joins Leicester and Burnley in promotion to the Premier League for 2014-15.

And the winner of TBG 13-14 cannot do better!

And the winners are:
Yes, first, as you can all see from the Garden table, Richard's Gottodobetter with a desperate sprint/lunge/firecracker overtook the two teams ahead of him at the last gasp/belch/just wind of our 38 week marathon to win by a Sunderland stretch.

I cannot do a soundtrack but you should hear trumpets, big drums, loud cheers, raspberries, and more. Then there's the flashing lights borrowed from the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday night.

Well bettered indeed, Gottodobetter! And battered!
Buttered? Maybe not. He didn't slip .....but others did!

And there's the rub. Steve of Little Ted United often says that his mother told him that it was no use coming second. (Thanks,  Nick - See See Songs, for reminding me)

But second is exactly what she has done - our Toni and her Little Wonders.

And as for 3rd, well we had better press on quietly Steve ...

.... and mention that Peter and his Super Rams who missed the first week of the League back in August last year has an average score better than Elojo and slightly less than Florence Dynamos. A great run-out in his first season - which could be enhanced if Derby win the play-offs and join the Premier League next season.

Thanks to everyone else for losing and being such jolly good /rotten sports, weren't you? Including the recent leaders for a heady dance. (Head of league table, wake up!)

And now to put on muddy boots and look at the league which gives someone else a chance of fantastic fame: our head-to-head Allotments league. Where even low scores can get a result!

The winner looked likely to be Gottodobetter but one of the uncommon draws (63-63) that we get in the head-to-head ditched Richard's chances of a double.

And the winner right at the very last shallot is El-Fandi Allstar's Peter H.
There were some leeks on the way but, Peter, you finally got the job done.

Both winners are invited to tell us please - to what they owe their success.
What were the factors that helped you to be a winner: anything at all that you can think of!
(You know: the recession, low interest rates, your partner's cooking, cannot sleep, only chance of a bit of peace, tennis not so good now, etc)

The end (for now)

One Week left and all hell broke loose ......

When Hell Broke Loose
When Hell Broke Loose (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
The 13 match Gameweek 37, spread over 11 days ended last night. 4 teams moved up one place and therefore 4 moved down one.

At the top, four teams are separated within 15 points only so the league is not yet won.

In the lower half of the table at least two could finish ahead of the team above it. At this stage of the season any improvement of one place within one week is a big step up!

Maybe I exaggerated a bit about Hell, etc. But just a bit, it was an exciting Gameweek for more than just me.

The Leagues

In the Allotments any of the top 3 could hit the hot spot by next Sunday around 5pm.

This is the second blog posted today - so scroll down to read and - the Gameweek 36 blog has had a comment added!

Wonderland not Sunderland

At the bottom of the Premier League with 6 matches left to play, 7 points adrift and three of the opponents to come were Man City,  Man U
and Chelsea. That was Sunderland's predicament in March, a few weeks ago.

After last night's win 2-0 at home to West Brom, Sunderland are comfortably placed at 14th in the league and 5 points ahead of the relegation zone.

Still unfinished Gameweek 37 sees Titans clash at top of table ....

Sunderland

It is not all over!

With Little Ted now ahead by 8 points from Dynamos and all down the table there are some close placings - tonight's two matches could make a difference.

Who could tell that not having Noble as first reserve when Rooney did not play would make any difference?

Will I regret gambling with Borini of Sunderland in the last three gameweeks? There will be more regrets down the table tonight as the penultimate Gameweek finally finishes.

If you have Man City, Sunderland, Aston Villa and West Brom players in your team there should be more points to come.

Right down the table there are chances for most teams to move up one place. So check your team and work out your chances in tonight's matches. Then fingers crossed for the coming weekend.
