No change given in the Allotments but a new No 6 in the Gardens .....

Gameweek 36
In the Gardens El Fandi gets ahead of Super Rams. Whiskers only.

Why should we hope that Derby win the play-offs and win promotion to the EPL?

BECAUSE David and Peter, UP the Rams and SUPER Rams, will have an added pleasure in joining us again next year. Fingers crossed for them! With 2 Derby players on each team, they can have squads of a more pleasing personal personality.

There are only 2 Gameweeks left but some clubs have 3 matches left to play so look out for the teams that will play 3 times in the final two stages of our competition. There are 6 which have played only 35 matches so far.

There is no change in the Allotments. Two matches to go, so only 6 points more to win or lose.

35th Gameweek and blooming Barbara is beating us with the Blues

Our Dynamos manager used her Crystal Ball to change to 3 Everton players and Aguero (Blues) at a cost of four points and scoring a net 69, and the BowWow boys did slightly better with 70.

Meanwhile, Steve still in 2nd spot, was taking risks with a 5-man midfield and one striker, Suarez - who was not Captain!!

And coming up to the parapet and almost looking over it is Little Wonders only 12 points behind in 2nd place, and displacing Richard who falls to third. The top three are all in with a chance of finishing on top - more than I can say for Chelsea after losing to Sunderland with a home defeat. Carrammba!

*(And Borini, Sunderland, was in my FL team. That takes a bit of explaining to Nick! And Borini is a Liverpool player! In blue in the photo because he was playing for Italy)

In 5th Mike leads a small group of three teams but from 10th down we begin to scatter into singles without much hope of improving position except that Ed and Joanne could interchange - in our LAST THREE GAMEWEEKS coming up!

(My reporting style this week is the Newton Abbot one; its a jumps-only course!)

*Borini of Sunderland scored from a penalty v Chelsea. The Sunderland win by 2-1 destroyed Chelsea's chance of winning the PL this season and Mourinho's 'record' of never losing at Chelsea for x matches.
(x = maybe 70+)

And in the Allotments, work it out .........here it is!

Let me know if I have made any bloomers anywhere.

Teams of some personality and some with tons of personality

English: Image of Tony Pulis

Most people have 3 players from the same club in their squad. It is not in the Premier League FL rules and so I am delighted that we nevertheless have teams of personality.

The 3-player idea has been used in two ways. First, to satisfy those of us with definite favourite clubs like Nick and myself with Chelsea. Second, to use a less fashionable team as the source of the 3 players because the players are cheaper, leaving more to spend on the rest of the squad. I had not foreseen the second  approach to the 'rule'. But is an intelligent way of using the 3-player theme.

Toni's and Barbara's use of Crystal Palace is an example of this. They recognised the drive of Tony Pulis in getting this team to play beyond the level of its previous two seasons in the Premier League. Steve's use of Southampton players (and maybe Mike at one time, anyone else?) is the same.

James' team has a theme I admire: he has 3 Sunderland players AND 3 Man City AND 3 Liverpool. His team BowWow delivered 65 points, 2nd highest score in Week 34. I suspect that Sunderland is his favourite team. Richard, Mike, Jeremy and Jo also have double 3s and all include Liverpool but have very different teams overall. Tons of personality!

Are there closet Newcastle fans amongst us who really should be using 3 Magpies in their FL squads?  The top scoring Newcastle defender is Williamson (in my FL squad) with 78 points against Everton's Coleman leading the pack with 160+. The top scoring Newcastle midfielder is Sissoko with 100 points against Man City's Yaya Touré with 200+. So you can see the problem with Newcastle choices!

Peter's El Fandi has an unusual character with 3 Chelsea defenders. You can see why - Chelsea have conceded only 24 goals so far, easily the lowest with Man City next with 10 more conceded.

Barbara - CP
Steve - Liverpool
Richard - Man C/ Liverpool
Toni - CP
Mike - Liverpool/ Everton (Merseyside)
Peter J - Liverpool
Peter H - Chelsea
Jack - Arsenal
Jeremy - Liverpool/ Everton (Merseyside)
Me - Chelsea
James - Man C/Sunderland/Liverpool
Nick - Chelsea
Steve - Man C
Joanne - Liverpool/ Southampton
Ed - Everton
John - Lots of Red
Nigel - Chelsea
David - Chelsea/ Swansea/ Man U

Gameweek 34: What's changed?

Not much has changed. Little Wonders have got closer to all three teams above them in 4th, very close to Gottodobetter and further away from Elojo. Crystal Palace players did well for manager, Toni, and one of them worked for Barbara.

Which Premier League team do you think will finish on top? I think ........

Chelsea will be top, with Liverpool and Man City close behind. What do you think?

My gamble with Sunderland players in my FL team to win some points for me and for themselves has not quite succeeded. Yet? Will they just lie down now and be relegated?

The usual close one with Strollers and Foxes this week. El Fandi and Gotodo ....and Elojo? still in command. Four weeks left.......then the World Cup ...soon!

Gameweek 33, only five weeks left of this season

With the top three teams and Elojo each scoring around the average score, Little Wonders got closer to the top three with a score of 74, the highest in the league: helped more than a Little by Gerrard's two penalties and Puncheon punching his plump weight.

Toni's team has a chance of catching at least one of the leading three in the 5 weeks remaining. But Elojo fell at the Week 33 fence in Grand National weekend. However, he may get back on his feet before the winning post.

And "Hello, Jo" to Joanne whose team was another beneficiary of Gerrard's prowess at the penalty spot. Her team moved up one place.

The teams at 10,11 and 12 look as though they will be under each other's hooves until the end.

In the Allotments league where you can progress only by 3 points maximum in a week there is a greater sense of safety, isn't there? You cannot fall through the floor nor rise to the heights quickly but most teams can overtake or level with the team above in a gameweek.

El Fandi recovered the lead for the first time since Gameweek 24, getting past Gotado'. The fat footballer (chunky Puncheon ... or Nasri?) hasn't sung yet by any means.

Gameweek 32: How to be better than average?

Floculante Furies' was one of 10 performances in our Gardens league which was lower than the average score. (46 average for ALL players, 3 million+)

Even with Suarez as captain! He scored 18 of my 43.

So I was thinking, "Who do you have in your team in order to score more than average?"

The top team in the Week 1 League for those of us who started in Week 1 (of course) was Boruc, Skrtel, Cahill, Baines, Barkley, Gerrard, Yaya T, Hazard, Suarez, Lukaku, Rooney .....with Vlaar, Ward,  Puncheon as reserves. These lads must have been largely put together when prices were lower, mustn't they? They scored 58 but did not have the highest score in their league for this week.

Would anyone like to find out if they could be bought now within £100m?

I am thinking that 11 transfers at  4 penalty points apiece (= 44) might be worth it. (I already have 4 of these guys)

The dream team for last week can be found from this link or from your page in the FPL.(132 points)

And so Florence Dynamos holds on to top spot - 8 points ahead of Little Ted. Also close together at 5th, 6th and 7th are Toni, Peter, and Peter within one point of each other.

Then lower down Nick and myself are two points apart.

Elsewhere in the table it will take dynamite to make progress. (Or a 44 point penalty - that would be like dynamite)

On to the Allotments for some light relief. Most of the top half of the table are doing better than in the Gardens, including myself. Toni's Little Wonders had a one point win over Little Messi who recently won 3 points by the same margin! Anybody not lost by one point?
